This the first painting of his I ever saw. Our “edges” do indeed touch the universe. Our hearts can expand to the far limits of the sky and beyond. And, when we lie under it and watch the pagent and the majesty of it, we feel humbled and expansive all at the same time. Lovely, Albert, lovely.
I just saw a huge faded print of this in a funky, fun coffee shop in the faded, humble, expansive little, middle of nowhere town of Green River, Utah. when you all go on your road trip you just have to go to that coffee shop in Green River. but you can't really plan it because their hours are pretty random. :-)
OMG! I followed the link and now I have new screen background. I hope the coffee shop is the trailer. How cool would that be? I didn't know you were on flickr. I love love love the photos, and fell in love with the feeling of wide open space in this one. Thank you thank you.
sadly, the coffee shop is not in the trailer, but that should be the last disappoint from the coffeeshop. i'm sure it will exceed your wildest expectations.
and that one, the this link you just made is the next photo I was going to post over here. the snowcapped peaks in the far background are the La Salles and that is where the lovely farland has some cabins. the ones you are all going to visit some day. I was not going to farland's place that day, but it's in the photo none-the-less. I took that photo from a rest area on interstate 70 and I took it specifically thinking of you and jeannie and catherine / otter knowing I was going to share it here on gaia. you picked it out before I had a chance to post it. :-)
one of those immortal images.
such a powerful painting… love your poem too, thank you
Thanks for the visit w7 & Nicole…;-)

Thank you Catherine. The emotion I most hope for is feeling humbled and expansive at the same time. Thank you thank you…;-)

High boughs sigh and my
edges touch the universe -
I lie under it.
beautiful said Albert
makes me homesick for my sleeping bag
That's exactly what I felt when I wrote it Jena - homesick for my sleeping bag.
And Dawn - I love your photos - all of them!
