I stayed in today and just listened to music. Damn I feel sooo good! Video excerpts from my (necessarily incomplete) playlist:
Let it be, just let it be...
The Beatles - Let It Be (1970)
Amazing wordsmiths...
A Tribe Called Quest - Verses From The Abstract
How much art has come through brutality?...
Ode To Joy
I love Patti...
Patti Smith - Because The Night
I love this guy too...you know what I mean?...
Do You Know What I Mean - Lee Michaels
Carmen...what can I say?...<sigh>...
Angela GHEORGHIU - Habanera - Carmen - Bizet
You may not think of this man in this musical context but...really...he's just amazing...
Wynton Marsalis Carnival Of Venice
And from my sister's old boyfriend (really!)...
John Mooney - ?m?l 2007
Red Hot!...
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Can't Stop
I can't help it - I really like this cut...(if this one doesn't display correctly just go here)...
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
And if nothing has yet this'll bring on the happy tears...
k.d. lang sings 'Hallelujah'
There was so much more today, so much music...God, I love music.

Whoa! Great choices. This sounds redundant, but music “rocks!” The other day I was in one of my “indigo funks” and had to pick up my daughter from school. I put on a CD of various and sundry upbeat tunes - everything from Billy Preston to Donna Summer - and after a few songs I was “transported.” Ta for “kcidybom's playlist extraordinaire.”
Thanks Catherine. I pretty much like all music, well, almost all, as long as it's well done and tickles my ears, and my fancy. Love Preston and Summer too!
And sorry - the Mooney clip was kaput. Fixed now!
If my life had a soundtrack, kd would be the backbone of it. Thanks, and Hallelujah.
I'm with ya bro! Hallelujah indeed.
You got me all gaga with the Lee Michaels post.
Check out Mr. Hendrix w/ Lee on the Hammon B3.
Oops! I'm showing my age.
You have a link to the Jimi/Lee duet? That would be uber cool.
holy shit albert… have you been reading my diary?
good goddess almighty and then you ended with KD and Hallelujah!!!! Hallelujah!!! Halleluhah!!!! Hall-lay-luuuuu-yaaaa!!!!
hallelujah!! here's two more versions – follow the inspiration link on this post for rufus wainwright's version and the link in the comment below that post too for one of leonard's versions.
and albert– I have been emotionally raw listening to the across the universe soundtrack, particularly this song, “because”, over and over and over. I bought it for jordan and we listened to it on the way to utah and sang along to it together.
and omg!! that can't stop vid is CRAZY. I loved the song, but never saw the vid. whoa!
Peri - Your diary? Is that the little book, the one with unlined paper and with elven runes on the cover, the one tucked way up on top of the bookshelf? No, I haven't been reading it. …Now don't come back and say “That's exactly what I have…” because that'll totally flip me out…;-) Listening to music I always seem to 'end up' with KD.
Dawn - I don't think I've ever heard a version of Hallelujah I don't absolutely love, but KD's and Rufus' are even more bestest and wonderfuller. And I completely understand the emotional rawness you feel. I think that no matter what, Jordan will have this music in his heart of hearts as he experiences the centering of his work over the next month or so. Across the Universe was the perfect soundtrack for him to begin his new and important journey. Perfect!
Thanks to you both for stopping by and sharing some music.
bestest and wonderfuller are my two of my favoritist words, you know.
Me too…;-)
I am going to come back to this. My husband has the flu with a pounding a headache and just ended up in here on the couch and I don't think he wants to listen to music right now. I did get to listen to Patti Smith. I love that song and love the red hot chili peppers and I love love love that song by queen. I coming back later to hear the rest. I can't wait kcidy.
Hope your hubby gets well soon. And hope you enjoy the rest of the tracks. Thanks for stopping by Jenni.
Music has so much power, when you think about it. Can anything match it in terms of influencing mood? I really enjoyed your playlist.
Yeah Kat, that's music through and through. Glad you liked it…;-)
isn't the word “playlist” cool?
music is life written in notes
Albert, over the last several years, I've gotten away from listening to music except at festivals. Not sure why. The radio being ripped out of my car, and then the demise of my car, was the beginning I think. I suspect Netflix is a huge culprit. But, like so much synchronicty that happens around Zaadz, the last few days I've been getting back in touch with Sting's varied oeuvre and remembering how great it is to listen to music. How much it can transform and inform moods. And then I come here. I love, love, love this post. A window into you, at least at this moment. Hope you don't mind if I steal this idea for a blog post. It's such a great one. Thanks for sharing all this great music. How strange to be reminded how absolutely incredible the Beatles are. How weird to have forgotten … Across the Universe is only a few movies away in my Netflix queue.
Yeah Dawn - 'Playlist' the word is way cool. Imagine the permutations!
Nicole - Yes it is, isn't it? All possibilities in a single note.
DLil - A snapshot through the window, yeah, not a microscope or telescope, but maybe a kaleidoscope. And please do use the idea. Not original with me anyway - I think I stole it from Peridot.
I rather enjoyed that.
Albert I always have fun when I come to visit.
hey! how many of us here are also on netflix? isn't there a way to share movie suggestions on netflix. I have never thought to actually explore their way to make netflix friends until now, but I would LOVE to see DLil's queue and many others, for good movie suggestions.
nicole, why aren’t we on each other’s friends list yet? all possibilities in a single note indeed and in a single friend. ;-)
and albert– I think playlist and joyful noise belong in a set. what else?
I like that we can share playlists and joyful noises with each other on zgaiaz.
Thanks B.B. I rather enjoy that you rather enjoyed it…and I have fun when you visit too…;-)
Dawn - there's some site (I'll look it up and distribute the link later) where you can do that kind of thing but independent of any one media or company. But that'd be cool. And how about adding 'joylist' to the set?
Love all you gais…;-)
Dawn, I'm not sure I'm ready to reveal my Netflix list – that might be just a bit too personal – LOL : ) But if you want to combine the Netflix and music worlds into one yummy tidbit, I recently watched “Once” about two musician in Ireland (in fact, one of the songs from the movie just won an Academy Award). I LOVED this movie so that would be one of my suggestions. “Across the Universe” arrived yesterday so I'm looking forward to getting cozy with that this weekend : )
