Look What I Found In My Brain, errr, Mind!!!

Posted on Dec 30th, 2007 by kcidybom : Manager - Bank of Cosmic Connection kcidybom

I believe in puckered space-time

I believe...

  • ...that in the woods wool is better than cotton.
  • ...that you are reading these words.
  • ...that I am connected to you, so get over it and don't worry.  It'll be okay.
  • ...that time is orthogonal to physical dimension.  Left does not disappear when you move down, just as now does not disappear with the tick of a clock.  The arrow of time is a useful psychological construct, but still only an illusion in fancy dress.
  • ...that my only guru sits between my ears except for those times when he is afield, visiting your guru for just a tiny moment.
  • ...that the stars are in the night sky so that I might wonder.
  • ...that contradiction is another way to spell ignorance.
  • ...that what I do not fear I must love, that fearlessness and love are equivalents, and that there is no state of being where either fear or love does not reign.
  • ...that Karamel Sutra ice cream is manna from heaven.  Don't even try to argue with me on this one.
  • ...that my daughters, Julia and Lily, are the most amazing people ever.
  • ...that the wholly other exists and that we may have made or be making it.  I believe this not because of revelation, but because Gödel's incompleteness theorem implies it.
  • ...that adversity does make you stronger.  I do not aspire to be an Eloi.
  • ...that, it then follows, British Utopianism is just plain silly.   Give me Malraux any day.
  • ...that if the reductionist and holist are not the same person just go ahead and kick 'em in the ass.
  • ...that the relationships I have with my loved ones, my friends, is what makes me tick.
  • ...that there is a reason for everything.
  • ...that reason is overestimated.
  • ...that I should listen, and then talk.
  • ...that the body's gender informs one's worldview, but is also meaningless, that gender is a narrow window through which to look.  But it's still fun to play with.
  • ...that everyone should try everything that won't kill you outright at least once.
  • ...that art without science is wishful thinking, but that science without art is sterile and will have no offspring.
  • ...that there is a probability that I will win a Nobel, climb Everest, and walk on the moon, although the probability is very small.
  • ...that, further, there is a probability that I will be loved, will love, am love, am loved, and will drive an old but functional car, and that the probability of this approaches 0.9999.
  • ...that nothing is certain.
  • ...that mind is a superset of brain.
  • ...that belief approaches, asymptotically, knowledge, but it will never quite get there.

Therefore, I know nothing.

Kudos on the list … much to agree with here.

What was that character's name in Hogan's Heroes?–the one who said, “I know nothingK!”?

Much like the Zen student who tells his teacher over the days that each day, he knows less and less.

“that contradiction is another way to spell ignorance”

how does this mesh with “curiosity is the purest form of insubordination”?

I believe I know nothingk too.  :-)

That, B.B., has got to be one of the nicest compliments I've ever received.  Thank you.  I love “the gentle way,the human way….the milky way, whey, cheese, mice, the country, trees, been too long.”  Kinda like a reverse rorschach test - words leading to images rather than images leading to words.

Albert your list is inspired, just brilliant.
only one objection: mind is a subset of brain? I think brain is just one tiny vehicle that mind drives around in. Mind is also in every other cell of the body and somehow connects too with other brains because actually we all share one genius mind/collective unconscious/source….
so maybe brain is jsut one tiny subset of mind??

You're absolutely right Jena - mind is superset of brain.  See above - you must have been sleepy..;-)  Thank you for stopping by………..Albert
